Welcome! This is Fresh Digs - home of Effingham's locally owned retailer of new/handmade/vintage/painted home decor, furniture and gifts. Plus we offer custom work such as furniture painting and upholstery, consultations as well as classes and events.
We're pleased to carry name brands such as Gus* Modern furniture, Illume soy candles, ban.do, Rifle Paper, Tag, Anne Taintor and more. If you want to see our products head to our Facebook or Instagram feeds. On this website click the Classes or Events tab to see what fun we've got in store for you in the shop or around the area. Lastly, check out our blog, What's Inside, to catch of glimpse of local life.
If you've not been in our shop here's a quick rundown of who we are and what we offer. I (Joanna) opened Fresh Digs with a partner, Salina, in 2014 because we felt like Effingham lacked home decor and gift shops for the trendier 25-50-something age range. Having to travel out of town or online just weren't doing it for us. In curating the shop, our goal was to offer our local community the ability to touch and see in person what they're buying PLUS have the option to spend their retail dollars in our community all while receiving personal customer service.
Plus we've slowly curated over twenty local artists who make everything from furniture to soap to art. Being able to support these small businesses and offer locally made goods to our community makes us proud.
In 2017 I became the sole owner of Fresh Digs and I continue to work to source as many wholesale items that are made in the US and/or Fairtrade as possible.
The shop is separated into the main room where you'll find mostly new and locally made home decor, furniture and gift items. Through the main room you can walk into The Backroom where you'll find many different vintage eras represented in clothing, wall art, decor, jewelry, lighting and furniture. And don't forget to check out the Sale Room down the hallway on the left-hand side of the main room. It is always being added to and you can find items that are up to 75% off.
I am also a member of and participate in Downtown Effingham Business Group activities. Be sure to check out all of the new boutiques in downtown Effingham. It has changed considerably in the past few years.
